The present invention relates to a bridge superstructure and, more particularly, to a prestressed concrete bridge super structure wherein the prestressing steel wires are housed in protective tubes. The advantages include elimination of the need for special handling equipment and placement of sticks and ducts. The present invention relates to a bridge superstructure and, more particularly, to a prestressed concrete bridge super-structure wherein the prestressing steel wires are housed in protective tubes. The advantages include elimination of the need for special handling equipment and placement of sticks and ducts. In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, a bridge superstructure includes a floor slab, a bent portion supported by the floor slab and extending in a generally downward direction from the floor slab, The bridge superstructure also includes a cable-spreading apparatus disposed between the bridge floor and the bent portion, and an annular prestressing steel wire which is housed in at least one protective tube and extends longitudinally between an upper end connected to said bent portion and a lower end connected to the floor slab. In accordance with another aspect of this invention, a bridge superstructure includes a floor slab and a bent portion supported by the floor slab and extending in a generally downward direction from the floor slab. The bridge superstructure also includes a cable-spreading apparatus disposed between the bridge floor and the bent portion and an annular prestressing steel wire which is housed in at least one protective tube and extends longitudinally between an upper end connected to said bent portion and a lower end connected to the floor slab. The edge portions of each of said tubes are formed with key slots which engage corresponding key portions formed on the side plate. The details of this bridgesuperstructure will be described hereunder: FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a bridge superstructure according to the present invention; FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of the superstructure shown in FIG. 1; FIG. 3 is a plan view of the superstructure shown in FIG. 1; FIG. 4 is a side elevational view, partly in section, of the superstructure shown in FIG. 1; and FIGS. 5 and 6 are enlarged side elevational views, partly in section, taken on lines 5--5 and 6--6 of FIG. 4 respectively for further illustrating a construction detail thereof with parts omitted for clarity purposes only. To achieve the objectives of the present invention, a novel structure is provided in which the prestressing steel wires are housed in protective tubes. The primary object of this invention is to provide a prestressed concrete bridge superstructure wherein the prestressing steel wires are housed in protective tubes and not in ducts and sticks. Hence, this invention is especially useful for bridges which need to withstand loads from underwater vehicles and great weight applied under water pressure. As will be seen hereinbelow, this particular embodiment of the present invention eliminates any need for too many emergency bucket trucks or divers or other vehicles because there is no necessity for such vehicles to enter into basically dangerous spaces.
